Remembering Dr. Bruce McCreary
Dr. Bruce McCreary
Psychiatrist, Professor Emeritus
Raised on a farm near Smiths Falls Ontario, a summer job at the Rideau Regional Centre led to a lifelong passion for working with the developmentally disabled. Bruce attended Queen's University for medical school and pursued a residency in psychiatry. Bruce was committed to his patients and their families and conducted clinics across eastern Ontario for 50 years, as well as at home in Kingston. At Queen's, Bruce was Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychiatry. In 2003, the Canadian Psychiatric Association awarded Bruce the Roberts Award, recognizing him for his clinical work and leadership in the field of developmental disabilities. Bruce was even more committed to his former colleagues. Bruce unfortunately passed away on November 15, 2017. He is greatly missed by all his colleagues and staff at the Department of Psychiatry.
